I have my new house!!!!

Now I am going on a guys retreat and golfing all weekend while Andrea sets up and cleans the old house.

I swear I didn't plan it that way.

The possession date was changed AFTER I arranged to go on this weekend.

Go mom!

I am thankful to my mom for letting me live this long...

In spite of numerous childhood threats to the contrary!

Love you mom!

61 days in the stroke of a pen

We signed today to move the possession date of our house to June 1st.

101 days just became 40.

On the other hand I guess this means that we just wasted 61 days of packing time.

Hmmm. Panic yet?

We got a new house!

First of all I would like to start by saying that in 4 months we will no longer be living in a basement.

AHHHHHH!!! That felt really good to say.

Now, on to the details...
1050 square feet
3 bedrooms upstairs, 1 downstairs
full bath upstairs, 3/4 with shower downstairs
Kitchen/Dining room
Living Room
developed basement
2 car garage
fenced lot
park adjacent to lot and another across the street
fully renovated upstairs and down, All rooms except furnace/laundry room
$301,000

It was an amazing deal considering the market in Regina right now. We looked at another one ten minutes prior to this one that was listed for $269,000. It was nearly identical and if I were to describe it nothing I listed above would change except for the reduction of one park and the lack of renovations. The yard was horrible and the fence was in rough shape. When you compare the two, either the one we got was $40,000 under priced or the first one we looked at was $40,000 overpriced. I will include some pics of the first house for comparison purposes.

The pics:

Outside of house
Half the back fenced yard

Deck between house and garage, inside fenced area
House and garage
Front of house
Other house
The front yard was nothing but gravel, two huge 35 year old pine trees and a wheelchair ramp. The back yard was tiered, it was nothing but dirt, the fences were falling down and the garage needed work.
Living room/Kitchen
The shelves and tables are built in
TV stand built in
Dishwasher, fridge,stove included.
Other house
Welcome to my Great-Grandpa's house

great 70's colors and appliances
Bedrooms

Master is smaller than what we have now, but we don't need to have a desk, bookshelves, workout machine and storage in the room.

Updated bathroom
Was a girls room and Tim likes it but it will probably turn into an office for the next few years.
Guess what room Jason likes?
Yep...This one.
The other house
Yikes!
Yikes

Basement
Bathroom
laundry/utility, 4th bedroom, stairs
Nothing but space
Wide open area
Other House
Bathroom needs some work
wood walls, where have I seen that before?

Lots of space...but uhg!

Summary:
To put things bluntly, the house we got was only $32,000 more than the other nearly identical house but it would probably take $100,000 or more to make it comparable. I say we got the right house.
The kids are most excited about the park across the street. It is the same park that we take them sledding every winter! Now we just walk them across the street.
I am actually a little excited too. (Andrea is positively vibrating!)
