Just so you guys know; my job is not all fun and games. As part of the university Co-op program I am required to present a report which is somehow related to both my field of study and the position I have. I have presented the synopsis of what I am planning to present below. I expect that the final product will end up being 30-40 pages long plus 10-20 pages of ancillary information.

It is graded as a pass/fail so after all that work, the only thing I will be told is that it is acceptable or not.

Work term report synopsis – Scott Ulriksen 200241155
Idea:
A primary function of the RHA maintenance office is to ensure that tenant concerns are dealt with in a timely and appropriate way. The process used is a classical example of a problem solving algorithm.
Questions:
What is the existing process that allows tenant concerns to be efficiently dealt with?
What is the history behind the existing system?
What are the strengths and weaknesses of this process?
How does the database created for this process enhance productivity?
How can the database be improved?Where does the system ‘bog down’?
Is there too much or too little supervisor input in the system?
How can the algorithm be improved or streamlined?
Have recent changes improved the system already?
Proposal:
I propose to examine the existing algorithm used to solve tenant concerns and problems. I will examine the history leading to the present system, discuss how the present system works and seek to determine if further improvements to efficiency, productivity, or quality control can be achieved. Included will be discussion of how the new database system is used and how it may also be improved.
Method:
-A complete algorithm, detailing all steps from a problem being reported to the storage of the records after the problem is solved will be created.
-Discussion of the history leading to the present algorithm.
-Analysis of strengths and weaknesses of the algorithm.
-Discussion of how the database enhances the efficiency and quality of the algorithm.
-Presentation and evaluation of changes made during work term.
-Recommendation of possible further changes to both the algorithm and the database used to track each individual concern.
Notes:
-The recommended report outline will be followed with the above information presented in the most obvious or best suited location within the report.-The emphasis of the report is not finalized and may change as it is prepared. The final product will have a consistent emphasis throughout.

If you read this far then maybe you can tell me what you think of my project. If I have to think about it then I sure want someone else to as well.
